Talia Carner will speak on "The Voices that Wouldn't be Silenced." She exposes sex trafficking in her recent book The Third Daughter, where women in Eastern Europe in the late 1800s and early 1900s fell to false promises of a new life in "America." An organized crime operation, Zwi Migdal, lured women fleeing poverty and pogroms and forced them into prostitution. In her powerful speech, Carner reveals how the women were shunned by the Jewish community and their cries were ignored for decades. She will also educate the audience about actions to help eliminate the horrors of human trafficking happening today nationally and locally.
